Moore & Bruce, LLP is known for its work on private
client matters, both for U.S. and international individuals
and families. For us, the key to this work is the nature of the
relationship with the client. Clients know that the most
important thing for us is to serve their best interests. We
make every effort to understand the client, his or her
situation, what it is that that individual is concerned about,
and what it is he or she wishes to achieve. Beyond this, we
try to help the client in ways that even the
client may not foresee. Life’s legal aspects and those
things that underpin these are our daily practice. We
can point to things, large and small, that make a
great difference. Sometimes this advice goes beyond advice on
technical legal points.
Areas of practice include domestic and
international tax, trust and estate planning, preparation of
wills and trust structures, matrimonial and related
subjects, advising banks, private banks, investment
advisors, and similar advisors, and immigration and nationality
law.
We are leading advisers in the fields of international
private foundations, international trusts, emigration from
the U.S. (including renunciations), and immigration to the U.S.
We are also active in other jurisdictions on similar matters.
We advise
many of the best-known international trust and corporate
administration companies on
technical U.S. tax and related issues.
In our Washington, D.C. office, we represent many members of
the diplomatic corps, including Ambassadors and Deputy
Chiefs of Mission, heads of Non-governmental Organizations,
and employees of the World Bank and the International
Monetary Fund. We are very familiar with the issues
surrounding so-called "Politically Exposed Persons" ("PEPs").
In London, we advise "transatlantic" families living in the
U.S. and the U.K. or moving from one country to the other.
We take pride in providing comprehensive and detailed
information on all subjects confronting the individual or
family, including immigration, nationality, tax (U.S. and
U.K. income, U.S. social security, U.K. National Insurance
Contributions, U.S. estate and gift taxes, U.K. inheritance
taxes, U.K. VAT, U.K. rates), renting or purchasing a
residence, and reporting requirements (including foreign
bank account reporting). We lay out timelines showing
what needs to be filed, when and where. We think it is
important, for example, for the U.S. family moving to London
to see exactly how U.K. immigration, U.K. tax and U.S.
timelines relate to each other.
