Moore & Bruce, LLP advises French companies and
individuals with respect not only to subjects that “touch
down” in the US (such as investments in the US) but also
structures and transactions that have a presence in several
jurisdictions. Sometimes the matter has nothing or very
little to do with the US. We also advice US companies and
individuals, as well as others, about matters connected with
France.
Most of this work is conducted in the London office.
With respect to matters having a presence in the US, we
advise on everything from structuring investments,
negotiating and documenting transactions, tax planning,
compliance with US regulatory regimes, etc. We advice
individuals on immigration, tax, reporting, and a host of
other subjects.
Illustrations include: advising a French bank as to
advisability of establishing a US trust company and the
steps for doing so; advising French investors purchasing US
real property so as to minimize US tax and reporting
burdens; advising with respect to the incorporation of US
subsidiary of group that included French shareholders;
advising with respect to creation of US business to support
US treaty investor visa for French family living outside
France; advising French performing artist who organizing a
US tour; advising a US and French couple on lifting French
residency and establishing the family in the UK.
With respect to matters relating to France, we do the
reverse, advising US and other groups and individuals.
Illustrations include: advising a US couple as to the
acquisition of property in the south of France; advising
with respect to the acquisition of works of art; advising
with respect to licensing know-how from a French company;
advising the estate of a US individual that owned assets,
including real property, in France; negotiating a consulting
agreement with a large, publicly-traded French company and,
when the agreement was breached, successfully suing.
