Almost on a daily basis we work with other advisors across the U.S. and around the world. More often than not these are other legal advisors, but they can also be firms of accountants, private banks, investment advisors, or administrators of companies, trusts or family offices.

A few example are: A Bermuda-based trust company that was considering redoing the accounts of all its clients that have nongrantor trusts with U.S. beneficiaries; a Zurich-based shared family office operation; a Canadian law firm with Canadian clients with U.S. connections; a French legal firm with French and Middle Eastern clients with U.S. connections.

Some instances amount to a referral of a matter to us, others to a referral by us to outside advisors, still others to a form of cooperation on the project. Broadly speaking, most matters are pursued on a cooperative basis.

In general, Moore & Bruce, LLP is an exporter of work. This point follows from the fact that a large number of transactions and structures “touch down” in the U.S., yet they have an equal or stronger connection to another jurisdiction.  Many projects entail an investment in the U.S., or a sourcing of funds from the U.S., or an application, whether desired or not, of U.S. law, or the involvement of U.S. citizens or resident aliens, or “U.S.-style" documentation, or some other form of contact with or reference to the U.S.

Over the years we have had the pleasure of working with a large number of other advisors. Some of these relationships date back many years. Each year the list grows.

We do not involve another advisor for any reason other than we think that that involvement will serve the best interests of the client. If the client is well-served and pleased with the outcomes, our interests have been furthered.

We do not belong to any alliance that requires us to send work to other members. Nor do we exchange work back and forth with another firm as a means of promotion.

We have developed over time reliable and efficient means of collaborating on matters. These include simplified tools for sharing information.
