We work closely with our clients. At the outset we are
very frank and forthright
in describing what we believe may transpire with respect to
their matter. We
strive to understand their problems and concerns and what it
is that they want
to achieve. We then describe what it is that we expect will
need to be done to
meet their goals. In short, we try to avoid creating any
atmosphere of
ambiguity or mystery.
Since we often work with issues of grave concern to the
client, where he or she
is affected by great anxiety, we endeavor to reduce the
level of anxiety where
we know it is unreasonably high. The habit of many advisors,
unfortunately, is
first to build up the client’s fears, for one reason or
another. We take a very
different approach. It is our experience that clients often
overestimate the size
of the legal problem. It is also true that they often do not
know about or ignore
issues that in fact should be carefully weighed. Put
differently, clients
understandably are often not the best judge of their own
matters. This fact,
however, simply underscores, we believe, the value of the
services that we
are pleased to be able to render.
We are keen on showing clients not only what the rules are
and how the apply to
them to their situation, but also the rationale—such as it
may be—for the laws.
This approach enables the client not only to solve current
problems but also conduct
his or her affairs intelligently in the future.
We often confront the problem where a client has violated
rules in the past. The
issue is what to do now. We are very proud of our record in
helping clients in
difficult straits understand the alternatives and make wise
choices for resolving
problems.
